Netflix in May: Big month for new stuff

Text Gary Chun

Several of Netflix's strongest original series returns to the powerhouse online lineup throughout next month. Look at it as a kind of counter-programming to what the networks will be offering during the Nielsen sweeps period.

The fifth season of the political intrigue that is House of Cards starts up, along with the return of top-notch comedies Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt and Aziz Ansari's Master of None, plus the second season of the Wachowskis' mind-bending Sense8.

The movie highlight on the streaming/VOD service is the dark political satire War Machine, starring Brad Pitt as a charismatic four-star general chosen to command NATO forces in Afghanistan, only to be taken down by a journalist's exposé. Tilda Swinton and Ben Kingsley co-star.
