On course

Summit is taking a much-deserved winter trip. Our latest edition, 1.2, heads south to experience rich surfing traditions in Australia and to interview one of their culinary diplomats. We trek with Hokulea on its worldwide voyage, consider the future of the global economy with Manu Saadia, and hike into the mountains of Nepal to reflect on the value of travel. And Summit's staff and friends share caffeinated opinions on the best places globally for a cup of joe.

Back in our native Honolulu, we sit with fashionistas Roberta Oaks and Ola Rapozo, and discuss how a new mobile music studio will track Hawaii's underground music scene. Randy Wong prepares us a few cocktails, and we decamp into the valleys of Kualoa and Kaaawa for a lovely shoot with Aaron Yoshino and a lone army tent.
