All this week, the Office of Hawaiian Affairs has been offering workshops throughout Oahu to teach those going to the Hōkūle‘a's homecoming Saturday at Magic Island a special homecoming mele to welcome back the voyaging canoe to Hawai'i.

There's a lot planned starting Saturday through Tuesday, June 20, to mark this momentous occasion of the end of a lengthy journey around the globe, highlighted by special and emotional stops along the way. Saturday's ceremony and celebration at Magic Island starts at 7 a.m. Click here for the day's full calendar of events and event parking options.

And if you can't join the thousands who will assemble Saturday, all three television news stations will be providing live coverage: Hawaii News Now on KGMB from 7 a.m.-12:30 p.m., KHON on its sister station The CW from 9 a.m.-1 p.m., and KITV from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. KHON will replay it coverage later in the day from 6:30 p.m.-10 p.m.
